Robert Barder is a counselor and teacher of literature at Northridge Preparatory School in Niles, Illinois. He holds a B.A. degree in English and American Literature from Northwestern University. Bob worked in the non-profit sector for fifteen years at Misericordia Home, Lions Clubs International, and the Midtown Educational Foundation before coming to Northridge in 2011. In addition, he has taught for programs in Lithuania, Mexico, and Spain. He is also a co-founder of Altus Academy, a private, independent middle-school on Chicago’s west side. Bob holds a M.A. degree in Marriage and Family Counseling. He is a Licensed Professional Counselor and an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist, and, with clinical experience working with children, adults, couples, and families, he works as a therapist for an organization in Park Ridge, Illinois. With his interest in literature and psycholofy, he has taught a course for Northridge’s “Parent University” program on Leo Tolstoy’s Anna Karenina as well as a course entitled “Termperament Dynamics in Marriage and Family Life”. Bob and his wife, Julene, have four young children.
